The next phase of the Rab Port reconstruction covers approximately 400 metres of waterfront, three municipal piers and an access road towards the Slavija car park and the catamaran terminal. The project envisages approximately 100 new municipal berths. This is planned capacity upon completion of the works, not berths already available for use. It will also be worth following the arrangements for access to the waterfront during construction.
For boat owners, the rules for allocating a permanent berth are important. The law requires the vessel to be predominantly based in the area and registered with the competent harbour master's office or branch. Owners resident or established in the town or municipality where the port is located have priority for one berth. The port authority must publicly publish the list of permanent berth agreements and the waiting list.
Anyone waiting for a berth in Rab can check that their vessel details are correct and request access to the current waiting list from the port authority. Allocation also takes account of the vessel's length and intended use, so the planned number of new berths does not itself guarantee a place to any applicant. Availability will depend on completion of the project and allocation under the rules for the municipal part of the port.
