The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition discontinued the environmental impact assessment for the port project in Koromačno after the investor withdrew the existing study. According to the Municipality of Raša, relocating the project to the south-eastern side of the factory complex is under consideration and the investor has accepted that direction.

The next step is to amend the spatial plan. A new environmental impact study and assessment procedure can follow once the proposed location has an appropriate planning basis. The spatial plan determines where the project may be located and under which basic conditions, while the environmental assessment examines its specific effects and the necessary protective measures.

Residents, property owners and businesses should therefore follow two separate sets of documents: the amended draft plan and its maps, and the future study addressing traffic, noise, emissions, the marine environment and protective measures. Official notices will set the deadlines and methods for submitting comments in each procedure.

The discontinuation concerns the previous study and procedure. The new location and environmental acceptability of the project will be decided on the basis of new planning and environmental documents, with new opportunities for public participation.
